Vietnam Expands Visa Waivers and New Exemption

Vietnam Updates Visa Policy with Resolution 229 and Decree 221
Vietnam will implement two major visa changes starting 15 August 2025.
Under Resolution No. 229, nationals from 12 additional European countries, including Belgium, Croatia and Switzerland, will be eligible for visa-free entry for up to 45 days, expanding Vietnam’s tourism reach.
Decree 221 creates a fixed-term visa exemption for select foreign nationals who contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic growth. Eligible individuals include global investors, scholars, tech experts and cultural influencers. These beneficiaries will receive visa exemption cards valid for up to five years, allowing multiple entries and 90-day stays per visit.
