TPS Ethiopia
On December 12, 2025, the Secretary of Homeland Security announced a decision to terminate the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Ethiopia. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determined that conditions in Ethiopia no longer meet the statutory requirements for TPS and will terminate the designation.
Ethiopian nationals currently holding TPS who do not have another lawful basis to remain in the U.S. will have 60 days to voluntarily depart. After February 13, 2026, DHS may arrest and remove individuals who remain without status.
