September 2025 Visa Bulletin Update

The U.S. Department of State has released the September 2025 Visa Bulletin. USCIS has confirmed that applicants must use the Final Action Dates chart for employment-based filings and the Dates for Filing chart for family-sponsored filings this month, as outlined on its Adjustment of Status Filing Charts page.  

Family-Sponsored Preference Categories 

USCIS continues to allow applicants to use the Dates for Filing chart for family-based adjustment of status applications. Key highlights include:

F1 (Unmarried Sons/Daughters of U.S. Citizens)  September 1, 2017  June 1, 2006  April 22, 2015

Employment-Based Preference Categories 

Applicants must use the Final Action Dates chart for employment-based filings. Notable movements include:

All EB-5 Set Aside categories (Rural, High Unemployment, Infrastructure) remain Current across all countries. 

USCIS Filing Guidance 

According to USCIS, applicants must: 

  • Use Final Action Dates for employment-based filings. 
  • Use Dates for Filing for family-sponsored filings. 
  • Check their priority date against the relevant chart to determine eligibility to file Form I-485. 

Retrogression Watch 

No new retrogressions were announced for September, but EB-2 and EB-3 India remain significantly backlogged. EB-5 unreserved categories for China and India continue to show retrogressed dates due to high demand.
