DHS Announces E-Verify Resumes Operations
Key Point
- E-Verify has resumed operations as of October 9, and employers must create cases by October 14 for hires made during the system’s downtime
E-Verify Back Online
E-Verify resumed online operation on October 9, 2025. Employers who hired individuals during the system outage must create cases by Tuesday, October 14, using the hire date from Form I-9. When prompted, select “Other” and enter “E-Verify not Available.”
If an employee received a mismatch and chose to contest it during the outage, employers should revise the referral deadline by printing a new notice, updating the original or adding six federal business days. Mismatches referred on or after October 8 follow standard procedures.
Federal contractors should note that days when E-Verify was unavailable do not count toward contract deadlines. Employees and E-Verify+ users can log in to view updated timelines.
