Immigration Service Center for Greenland

Denmark announced the opening of a new citizen center in Nuuk, Greenland, effective 12 November 2025. This marks a shift in how foreign nationals in Nuuk apply for residence under Denmark’s visa schemes.

Key services available at SIRI Nuuk:

  • Submit residence and work permit applications
  • Collect approved permits
  • Obtain re-entry permits and temporary travel documents (laissez-passer)

Important notes:

  • No appointment is required; individuals can visit during opening hours
  • Applicants must bring a valid passport; EU citizens may also present a national ID card
  • Outside of Nuuk, applicants must still contact the local police for immigration services

The government stated this expansion aims to simplify access to immigration services for foreign nationals residing in Greenland. It will also reduce reliance on police offices for administrative processing.
