Bermuda Extends Moratorium on Work Permits for Closed Job Categories

Bermuda Closed Job Categories
Bermuda has announced a three-month extension of its moratorium on new work permits for 46 “Closed” job categories. These roles remain off-limits to new foreign workers through 30 November 2025. The list includes positions such as:
- Administrative Assistant
- Customer Service Representative
- Real Estate Agent
- Warehouse Clerk
Additionally, 10 “restricted” job categories remain subject to enhanced review. Employers seeking permits for these roles must:
- Apply for a maximum term of one year
- Show evidence that candidates recommended by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) were appropriately considered
If DWD does not respond within 10 working days, employers may submit applications with written proof of outreach.
