USCIS Reaches FY 2026 H-1B Cap

- USCIS has reached the H-1B visa cap for fiscal year (FY) 2026, as set by Congress
H-1B Cap FY 2026
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has officially reached the congressionally mandated H-1B visa cap for fiscal year 2026. This includes:
- 65,000 petitions under the regular cap
- 20,000 petitions under the U.S. advanced degree exemption (master’s cap)
While no new cap-subject petitions will be accepted, USCIS will continue to process cap-exempt filings, including:
- Extensions of stay for current H-1B workers
- Amendments to the terms of employment
- Transfers to new employers
- Concurrent employment in additional H-1B roles
The initial registration period opened on March 31, 2025.
