United Kingdom’s National Living Wage 2026 Estimate Update
Key Point
- The United Kingdom releases updated projections for the National Living Wage (NLW) to take effect in April 2026
UK National Living Wage 2026
The United Kingdom (UK) has published the Low Pay Commission’s remit for National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) rates effective April 2026, reaffirming its goal to align the NLW with two-thirds of median earnings.
The central estimate for the NLW in April 2026 is £12.71, reflecting a 4.1% increase. A projected range of £12.55 to £12.86 accounts for economic variability. These figures are indicative only, as final recommendations will balance broader economic conditions and stakeholder impact.
This marks an upward revision from the May 2025 consultation estimate of £12.65. If wage trends continue to outperform forecasts, the final recommendation may rise further.
Next Steps
The Low Pay Commission will submit its final advice to the UK Government by October 2025, with confirmed rates to be implemented in April 2026. Employers should monitor developments closely to prepare for potential wage adjustments.
