State Department Rolls Out New Visa Interview Tracking Tools
Department of State Launches New Visa Availability Tools
The U.S. Department of State has launched two new tools to help foreign nationals track visa interview availability:
- Immigrant Visa (IV) Scheduling Status Tool: This tool provides an estimate of when immigrant visa interviews are scheduled based on when cases became documentarily complete (fees paid and all required documents submitted). Scheduling status for immigrant visa cases at a specific U.S. embassy or consulate can be checked using the tool here.
- Global Visa Wait Times Tool: This tool offers a monthly snapshot of the next available nonimmigrant visa (NIV) interview date for various visa categories. It helps applicants gauge expected wait times for scheduling interviews. The tool can be accessed on the Department of State website here.
These tools provide helpful insights into visa interview timelines, but they are guides only—individual wait times may vary due to consular workload and other factors.
