Norway Updates Salary Requirements for Fall 2025
Key Points
- Norway will introduce new minimum salary requirements for skilled workers under residence permits beginning in September 2025
Norway Introduces New Work Permit Salary Requirements
Norway announced adjustments to the salary requirements for skilled worker residence permits. As a result, effective 1 September 2025, the new income thresholds will be:
- NOK 599,200 per year (before tax) for individuals holding a Master’s degree
- NOK 522,600 per year (before tax) for those with a Bachelor’s degree or lower
These salary requirements are based on the main collective agreement between the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS) and employee organizations. According to the government, these updates aim to ensure that salary and working conditions align with Norway’s standard wage levels, addressing past disparities in annual adjustments that have not kept pace with overall wage growth.
