Ireland ISD Launches Christmas Travel Initiative
Key Point
- Ireland introduced a temporary measure allowing non‑EEA nationals with expired Irish Residence Permit cards to travel during Christmas if they submitted renewal applications before expiry
Travel Confirmation Notice
Ireland’s Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) has introduced a temporary Christmas travel initiative to support non‑EEA nationals legally resident in the country. Due to processing backlogs, many individuals renewing their Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards are facing delays in receiving their physical cards by post.
ISD will issue a Travel Confirmation Notice to prevent disruption. The notice authorizes carriers to permit travel when travelers present it with an expired IRP card, provided they submitted the renewal application before the expiry date.
This measure ensures foreign nationals can travel during the holiday season without interruption, while maintaining compliance with immigration rules.
