German Federal Law Gazette 

On 26 November 2025, new social security thresholds were announced in the German Federal Law Gazette, BGBl. 2025 I Nr. 278 vom 26.11.2025. The Regulation on key calculation parameters for social security for 2026 (Social Security Calculation Parameters Regulation 2026) establishes the following:

The contribution assessment ceiling in the pension insurance system will be 101.400 € gross per year. Based on that, the salary thresholds for residence permits will be:

• Blue Card EU acc. to § 18g Abs. 1 S. 1 AufenthG (“Big Blue Card”): 50.700 € gross/year or 4.225 € gross/month
• Blue Card EU acc. to § 18g Abs. 1 S. 2 and § 18g Abs. 2 AufenthG (“Small Blue Card”): 45.934,20 € gross/year or 3.827,85 € gross/month
• Employment for persons with extensive professional experience, § 19c Abs. 2 AufenthG i. V. m. § 6 BeschV: 45.630 € gross/year or 3.802,50 € gross/month
• Skilled worker over 45 Years old, § 18 Abs. 1 Nr. 5 AufenthG (only applicable for the first time issued residence permits acc. to § 18a (Skilled worker with vocational training) and § 18b AufenthG (skilled worker with academic training): 55.770 € gross/year or 4.647,50 € gross/month

The contribution assessment ceiling for statutory health insurance from 01.01.2026 is a salary of 69.750 € gross/year or 5.812,50 € gross/year.

Bekanntmachung im Bundesgesetzblatt:

Am 26. November 2025 wurden neue Sozialversicherungsgrenzen im Bundesgesetzblatt (BGBl. 2025 I Nr. 278 vom 26.11.2025) veröffentlicht. Die „Verordnung über maßgebende Rechengrößen der Sozialversicherung für das Jahr 2026“ (Sozialversicherungsrechengrößen-Verordnung 2026) legt Folgendes fest:

Die Beitragsbemessungsgrenze in der Rentenversicherung beträgt 101.400 € brutto pro Jahr.

Auf dieser Grundlage ergeben sich die Gehaltsschwellen für bestimmte Aufenthaltstitel wie folgt:

• Blaue Karte EU gem. § 18g Abs. 1 S. 1 AufenthG („Große Blaue Karte“): 50.700 € brutto/Jahr oder 4.225 € brutto/Monat
• Blaue Karte EU gem. § 18g Abs. 1 S. 2 und § 18g Abs. 2 AufenthG („Kleine Blaue Karte“): 45.934,20 € brutto/Jahr oder 3.827,85 € brutto/Monat
• Beschäftigung für Personen mit ausgeprägter berufspraktischer Erfahrung, § 19c Abs. 2 AufenthG i. V. m. § 6 BeschV: 45.630 € brutto/Jahr oder 3.802,50 € brutto/Monat
• Fachkraft über 45 Jahre, § 18 Abs. 1 Nr. 5 AufenthG (nur für erstmalige Erteilung nach § 18a – Fachkraft mit Berufsausbildung – und § 18b – Fachkraft mit akademischer Ausbildung): 55.770 € brutto/Jahr oder 4.647,50 € brutto/Monat

Die Beitragsbemessungsgrenze für die gesetzliche Krankenversicherung beträgt ab dem 01.01.2026 69.750 € brutto/Jahr oder 5.812,50 € brutto/Monat.
