China Introduces New K Visa for Young Foreign Science and Tech Talent

China Introduces K Visa 

China has amended its Regulations on the Entry and Exit Administration of Foreigners to introduce the K visa, a new visa type designed to attract young scientific and technological talent from abroad. The change will take effect on 1 October 2025, under Order No. 814.  

Key updates include: 

  • Article 6 now includes the K visa as a recognized visa category. 
  • Article 7 outlines eligibility criteria: applicants must meet conditions set by relevant Chinese authorities and submit supporting documentation demonstrating their qualifications in science and technology. 

The amendment reflects China’s strategic focus on attracting global innovation talent and enhancing its competitiveness in high-tech sectors. The revised regulations also include adjustments to article numbering and will be republished in full.
