Humanitarian Measures for Palestinian Nationals in Canada
Canada will continue offering fee-exempt study and work permits, temporary resident permits, and status extensions to Palestinians currently in Canada, as well as eligible foreign national family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who left Gaza after 7 October 2023.
These measures, first introduced in December 2023, aim to provide refuge and support amid the worsening humanitarian situation. As of 8 July 2025, over 1,750 individuals have been approved to come to Canada, with more than 860 already arrived safely. Canada remains committed to processing applications, advocating for safe passage, and adjusting its response as the crisis evolves.
