Canada Announces Parents and Grandparents Program Intake

Key Points

  • Canada will accept up to 10,000 sponsorship applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program this year

Parent and Grandparent Program Intake Update

Beginning 28 July 2025, Canada will start issuing invitations to apply under the 2025 intake of the Parents and Grandparents Program. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will accept up to 10,000 complete sponsorship applications this year. Over approximately two weeks, IRCC will invite individuals who previously submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020, focusing on that existing pool rather than opening new submissions.

Those selected may submit applications electronically through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal. Individuals who are not selected can explore the option of applying for a super visa, which allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to five years at a time, with extensions available.

Applicants are advised to check the email address they provided in 2020, including spam folders, for potential invitations.
