Austria Minimum Income Requirements for Residence Permits 2026

  • Austria has increased the supplementary allowance rates for 2026, meaning residence permits will only be granted to applicants who meet the higher income thresholds.

Income Requirements 2026  

Austria has confirmed that residence permits may only be granted if applicants have an income at least equal to the supplementary allowance rate. Current minimums (effective 1 January 2025) are: 

  • €1,273.99 for single applicants; 
  • €2,009.85 for married couples; and  
  • An additional €196.57 per child.  

Social benefits that would only become available after receiving a residence permit are not counted.
