Humanitarian Parole Program: Trump Administration Tightens Restrictions

Humanitarian Parole Program Updates 

The Trump administration has intensified efforts to restrict humanitarian parole. The January 20th Executive Order “Securing our Borders” mandated thorough scrutiny of categorical parole programs, confirming the cancellation of the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole programs. While the order did not explicitly cancel other similar programs, the Department of Homeland Security has since suspended the “Uniting for Ukraine” (U4U) program. This program allowed Ukrainian nationals to enter the U.S. temporarily with financial sponsorship. USCIS no longer accepts initial requests and final decisions on pending cases have been suspended.
