The United Kingdom: Transit Visas Required for Russian and Georgian Nationals

  • The United Kingdom will require nationals of Georgia or Russia to acquire a transit visa when transiting through the UK beginning 5 October 2023 

Overview  

The government of the United Kingdom (UK) will require nationals of Georgia or Russia to acquire a transit visa when transiting through the UK beginning 5 October 2023. Exemptions will apply to applicants who scheduled a trip before 8 September 2023.  

Applicants are required to apply for a transit visa at least 48 hours prior to departure for the UK. For additional information on the application process for transit visas, check here.  

What are the Changes?  

The government of the UK will require Georgian and Russian nationals to apply for transit visas if they plan to transit through the UK on or after 5 October 2023.
