Visa Services Expanded in Islamabad

Sweden announced that, as of 7 July 2025, short-stay Schengen visa applications can now be submitted in Islamabad, Pakistan. This applies to Pakistani citizens and residents planning to visit Sweden for up to 90 days.

Applications are handled by VFS Global in Islamabad. Applicants must schedule an appointment directly with VFS to submit their visa application and confirm required documentation.

Residence and Work Permits Now Processed Locally

Sweden also launched residence and work permit services in Pakistan in April 2025. Applicants who intend to work, study or join family in Sweden, and who have been directed by the Swedish Migration Agency, can now complete in-person processing steps at the Swedish Embassy in Islamabad. These steps may include interviews, passport verification, fingerprinting and biometric registration.

This expanded access is intended to streamline procedures for Pakistani nationals and residents applying for Swedish visas and permits.
