Egypt Reaches Diversity Visa Cap for Fiscal Year 2025
Key Point
- By September 15, 2025, U.S. immigration authorities issued all 3,644 DV-2025 visas allocated to Egyptian nationals, so they will not conduct any further interviews or grant additional visas to applicants from Egypt this fiscal year
DV-2025 Update: Egypt’s Allocation Exhausted
The U.S. Department of State announced that Egyptian nationals have reached the maximum number of Diversity Visas permitted under the DV-2025 program. By law, no single country may receive more than 7% of the total 52,056 DV visas available annually, which equals 3,644 visas. On September 15, 2025, Egypt reached its visa allocation limit, so U.S. immigration officials will not schedule further interviews or issue additional visas to Egyptian applicants for the rest of the fiscal year.
U.S. immigration authorities emphasize that selection in the DV Lottery does not guarantee a visa. They intentionally select more individuals than the number of available visas, anticipating that some applicants will not qualify or will decide not to continue the process. This update applies only to Egyptian nationals applying under DV-2025 and does not affect applicants in other visa categories.
