Australia: Extension to Duration of Stay for Select Temporary Graduate Visa Holders

Overview  

The government of Australia will increase the duration of stay to two years for select Temporary Graduate visas (subclass 485) beginning 1 July 2023. To be eligible for the extension, candidates must possess a profession or qualification that has been prioritized by the government.  

The Temporary Graduate visa is designed for international students who wish to reside, study and work in the country following the completion of their graduate studies. 

Furthermore, the government will raise the maximum limit of work hours from 40 hours per fortnight to 48 hours per fortnight. For additional information on the application process and eligibility, check here.   

What are the Changes?  

The government of Australia will increase the permitted period of stay for foreign nationals holding Temporary Graduate visas beginning 1 July 2023. According to the update, these measures have been taken to address skills shortages in key industries.
